Siberian cold front moving in next week
If you think we’ve had our cold days… you haven’t seen anything yet. At least, that’s according to the Weather Network. They say Siberian cold front will is coming in pushing temperatures down to -40C with the Windchill. It is scheduled to arrive next week and stay until January 10th.
Tax Gas Funding… less than last year
Less than hoped for will be coming in to North Bay, when it comes to gas tax funding. Word from the Province says that a a total of $869,000 is designated for the city in 2017-18, which is down about $15,000 from last year.
Safe Trucking turns over 9 charges
Numbers are in from Timmins area OPP when it comes to their Safe Trucking initiative. During the 20-hour campaign, a number of vehicles were stopped in a number of capacities. Nine charges including four speeding tickets, one moving violation and four documentation offences.
Arbitrator rules in College Strike aftermath
The final word is in regarding Ontario’s College Strike. The arbitrator’s ruling was handed down this week Wednesday, about four weeks after Ontario’s 12,000 striking college faculty members were legislated back to work in a rare weekend sitting of the legislature. Included in the ruling, a four-year, 7.75% total salary increase for faculty and an instruction to Colleges that they must keep a record of part-time or partial-load faculty and consider them for full-time opportunities.
Fatal crash south of Wawa
A single-vehicle crash south of Wawa has taken the life of one Northern Ontario Man. The crash happened on Highway 17 45 kilometres south of the community. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
1k in fines for a Sudbury man, following accident
A Greater Sudbury man has had his day in court for an incident that happened during the Christmas season of 2016. The man involved in a rollover has been pegged with a 1,000 fine. Subsequent to Police arrival the 36-year-old evidently refused to provide a breath sample concerning the incident in Lively.
