SIU investigating shooting death in Timmins

The Special Investigations Unit says they’re looking into a shooting death of a man in Timmins. While little is being said about what happened they say it took place Saturday night. Preliminary information suggests that at officers with the Timmins Police responded to the Emergency Medical Services building to deal with a man that fled from Police. There was an interaction between the man and officers and one of the officers discharged a firearm. The man was struck. He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
 

Missing : Samantha Rose Dunlop

A plea is going out to the public for information leading to there whereabouts of a missing Woman. Last seen two weeks ago, OPP in Elliot Lake say they’re trying to find Samantha Rose Dunlop. Dunlop is described as white female, five-foot-4 and 110 pounds, and with long brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen she was wearing a black bomber style jacket. Information received that she may have travelled to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario with a friend.
 

Snow depth is up, slightly

If you feel like the snow just keeps coming you’re not along… The North Bay Mattawa Conversation Authority say that snow survey readings are above average in North Bay. While they don’t say that there is any concern for flooding as of yet, they do say that Chippewa Creek at 45 Centimeters, with an increased snow depth of 4.9 Centimeters since the last reading 2 weeks ago.
 

Drug bust leads leads to Murder charge discovery

What started as a drug bust for Sudbury Police, has now turned over a possible murder investigation. It started with two people getting arrested following a major drug bust in the city. $70,000 worth of drugs and cash was seized. Now, a check on male arrested revealed him to be on a wanted list for a murder charge in the country of Belize from May 2016. The male is also wanted in Toronto on a number of charges related to firearm robbery, extortion, and theft.
 

Sault Ste. Marie represents well in GTA

Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Christian Provenzano says it’s happy with a recent bid for a ferrochrome plant. The bid was made to Noront Resources. The Mayor says that the city represented very well, and the team was able to answer all questions through the presentation and application submission. It’s expected an environmental assessment could take five years after a site is chosen.
 

Fire displaces 3 in Greater Sudbury

17 firefighters from 3 stations were needed to quell a Structure fire in a semi-detached home in Greater Sudbury just before the weekend. It happened on Burton Ave and while where were no injuries, three people have been displaced. The fire that was deemed accidental, as done $70,000 worth of damage.
