HSN expecting over 100 in job loss
HSN says that the 2018-19 budget is out… and it comes with hard news for some. The total, at just over $505 million will maintain current bed levels and feature a $1.4-million boost for clinical departments, including a new pain management clinic, but it will come with a more than 100 job cut. Dominic Giroux, HSN’s president and CEO says this all in ongoing to chip away at a $10 million shortfall.
Speeder caught going 50kph over the limit
Slick conditions are often cause for some… to think about speed, but not everyone. A Barrie-area motorist was stopped just before the weekend by the OPP out of Powassan Highway 11 zipping along at more than 50kph over the posted limit. The 29-year-old’s driver’s licence was also suspended for seven days. He has a court date later this month.
More snow fall for Timmins
Those in Timmins may see some relief from the winter onslaught today, but not before sliding through the end of a Winter Storm Warning. As a winter storm moves into Quebec, total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 30 cm are expected by the time this winter storm ends. Drivers are reminded to head out with care.
22-year-old facing a number of charges
Sault Ste Marie Police say they’ve arrested a 22-year-old on a number of charges. Constable Sonny Spina spoke to KFM with the details.
The accused was located by officers just before the weekend, and was arrested.
Spike in needle exchange program
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says they’ve seen spike in numbers when it comes to those needing the cities needle exchange program. According the health unit’s 2017 annual report, demand for the needle exchange program at its office has been busy since last summer seeing 120 needle exchange clients per month. That’s up, an average of 20 monthly since last year.
24-year-old drives into house
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service say they’ve arrested a 24-year-old, for impaired driving. They say she was driving in the area of Albert Street East and East Street when she struck the front of a residence in the 100 block of East Street. There is no word as to injuries.
