While stopping to help someone who is in distress is… part and parcel of being a good neighbor… many now may now have second thoughts. A new jig known as the ‘Roadside Scam’, is making the circuit. Fraudsters pretend to be in distress next to their vehicle either on the side of the road, or in a parking lot. They ask those who stop to help for money to help them get back on the road, sometimes in exchange for expensive looking jewelry. Police say, it’s all an act… that thus far has gotten the best of two residents.
