Sudbury to spend over $60m on road repair

Road repair for the city of Sudbury will one of the top priorities this year. That’s the word from Tom Davies Square when it comes to spending for 2018. Reports say that $60.2 million will be pulled from the city coffer for Nickel City’s transportation network. Most of the work will include construction, road widening and intersection enhancements.
 

Highway remains closed

511Ontario took to Twitter this week to say that Highway 537 in Greater Sudbury remains closed at Jumbo Creek due to flooding. There is no word as to when the roadway would re-open. The province announced a few weeks ago that the culvert would be repaired this summer.
 

Flushing begins today

Residents of Timmins are being reminded that should they see a fire hydrant gushing all over a city street… not to panic. City employee testing and flushing of fire hydrants begins and lasts for approximately 10 weeks. Crews are beginning in Mountjoy Township, heading north-west.
 

Boat getting the boot

Sault Ste. Marie city council say that after 43 years on the Sault Ste. Marie waterfront, M. S. Norgoma is being evicted. City council took to a vote yesterday to end the museum ship’s stay at the Roberta Bondar Marina effective August 31st
 

Two suspected sought in break and enter

Greater Sudbury Police say they’re looking for two men this morning, after a brick was thrown through a window to gain entry to a residence. This was at a residence on the 300-block of Montague Ave. early this morning. Police say residents were inside at the time, and once inside the suspects displayed a weapon, before leaving the scene. Thankfully, there were no injuries in the incident. Both men are being described at around 5-foot-7 with dark clothing. One man had tattoos on his face.
 

Military exercises continue today

22 Wing continue Military exercises today in North Bay. The exercises are to test military preparedness in the event of a real emergency. While the events are taking place at the base… victors are being warned of the activities ahead of time… and there is no threat to safety.
