Strategic planning meetings underway
Health Sciences North says they’re in the midst of a crucial period of planning. This is all surrounding the finalization of their Strategic Plan in 2019. During meetings this week, HSN’s board heard from CEO Dominic Giroux who explained that in whatever they do, it must be aligned with the 2019-2024 strategic plan, and they must reflect they strategic direction from the LHIN, Health Quality Ontario, and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Vehicle hits a hydro poll
A vehicle in North Bay came to a sudden stop yesterday in the city. Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision at the corner of McIntyre and Ferguson streets. Reports say that at around 2:20p.m, a car hit a hydro pole. Details as to the cause has not been released, not is there any word on injuries.
Fire levels family home, workshop
Just east of Sault Ste Marie, a massive fire burned a home and woodworking shop to the ground this week. Both belonging to a Mennonite family. They were living just west of Bruce Mines. Two adults and five children have been displaced, the residence was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
House fire blamed on smoking elements
Timmins Fire Fighters say they responded to a house on Montgomery Avenue. Personnel say that when they arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. Crews say they managed to put the quickly. There were no injures, and the fire has been blamed on various smoking items.
Another Bear Spotted in the Soo
Sault Ste Marie residents are being reminded to be wear wise once again. This is after reports came in yesterday of a young bear wandering around Lake Street in the area of Wacky Wings. The bear was spotted crossing the road at about 2:30pm. People are urged to use caution travelling in the area on foot or by bicycle.
Another Arts group looking for a bail-out
Another arts group in Sudbury is looking for helping hand, when it comes to finances. Theatre Cambrian, known by some as Sudbury’s community theatre says they’re looking for $150,000 from the city. Mayor Brian Bigger made the notice of motion at a city council meeting Tuesday night. Theatre Cambrian’s request will be discussed at a city council meeting later this year.
