Police seeking footage following a collision with a telephone poll

North Bay police are seeking security camera or dashcam footage. This is after a vehicle struck a hydro pole on Front Street near Fifth Avenue West Saturday night. As a result, the pole snapped off which resulted in a call from North Bay Hydro. Police said the operator of the vehicle fled the scene. Four passengers were left in the vehicle and were transported to the hospital, where they were assessed. One person was treated for minor injuries.
 

Splash N Go around until the end of the month

Splash N Go Adventure Parks Ltd is sticking around a little while longer. As a result of popularity with residents, with tickets being nearly 100% sold out as of this past weekend, the Vermillion Lake Park in Chelmsford will be there until Aug. 29.
 

Popular trail in North Bay closed today for tree maintenance

The Waterfront Trail (or Condo Trail) between Marathon Beach and Timmins Street in North Bay will be closed today until 5:30 p.m. for tree maintenance. This will include removal of diseased and damaged branches, pruning to improve the structure of the tree and removal of dead trees that pose a safety risk to trail users.
 

Police looking for suspects in break, enter and theft

East Algoma OPP is requesting assistance following a break, enter and theft. It happened at the Johnson Township landfill site located on Government Road where suspects damaged the share shed door, the office window and also removed a variety of items that belonged to the employees that work at the landfill site.  Stolen items include SpyPoint Game Cameras, a Coffee maker and a Water cooler

Sault Ste Marie Police have charged a 62-year-old with theft of a motor vehicle. The call came in from the 200 block of Old Garden River Road. The victim stated they had given the accused consent to use the vehicle for a short time, however when they woke up in the morning the vehicle was missing.  Upon arrival back at the residents, the individual was arrested. He will be in court in September.
 

Emergency Calls over Narcotics on the rise – PHSD

Public Health Sudbury and Districts say emergency calls regarding the use of narcotics continues to be concerning. From January to July 2021, Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services has responded to 492 calls for service. This is an increase of 51 per cent over last year.
 

Elliot Lake Beaches get the “Blue Flag designation”

Two beaches in the Elliot Lake area have been awarded the Blue Flag designation. Spine Beach and Spruce Beach were recognized by Swim Drink Fish. The Blue Flag program recognizes beaches with clean, swimmable waters, high-quality services, that are operated sustainably. They are two of only 23 locations recognised by the organisation.
