Health Unit – Wash your hands after handling

Pet owners are being reminded of the importance of washing their hands, especially, when those pets are lizards or frogs. The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit says that salmonella is a real danger and that an increased case load has come through their door.

The Health Unit suggest the following tips to avoid salmonella sickness:

· Wash your hands after handling pets, their equipment and food. Good handwashing will go a long way to making sure you don’t get sick.

· Keep cages or tanks out of children’s bedrooms and unsupervised areas.
